Russian bespilotniki in the Indian market: is it the prospects?
It's no secret that the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is one of the most promising directions of military-industrial complex. In this sense, Russia and its military and military-trade potential of UAVs could become a major competitive tool in the arms market. It is recognized that understanding the true value of UAVs to the Russian leadership has come not at once. A long time, until the 80's, the Soviet Union assigned to the market position of its U.S., a classic example of what has been the development of a project «bespilotnika» «Compass Cope», precursor of modern «Global Hawk». Another powerful player on the market soon established Israel, in Operation «Peace in Galilee» in 1982, has successfully implemented tactical reconnaissance «bespilotnik» «Scout». However, the absence of the aviation industry and a small frontier prevents Israel become a full market leader in strategic UAV, which is an important advantage for enhancing the competitiveness of Russian products. In this article we look at the main levers to strengthen the Russian Mission to the international market for UAVs, particularly in trade relations with the main importer of Russian military products - India.
The choice of India as a major trade and military partner is not accidental. Today the country is a regional superpower with a strong, vibrant economy. It's no secret that in terms of population second only to India to China (and projected population in the next 20-30 years, passed the latter). A huge area surrounded by boundaries with total length of 14,1 thousand km. To the same, which is not very quiet geopolitical environment - all these can not contribute to the development of rampant military industries and active international trade in this field. The main sources of conflict - a long-standing territorial claims and struggles of different faiths, especially in the Indo-Pakistan border, where the fighting often takes the nature of the terrorist attacks and border skirmishes. Thus, India may need to UAVs as a tool for strategic intelligence as well as continuous training of the radar field. Another area of possible applications - payment of local conflict (for example, in the state of Kashmir) and counter-terrorism operations. Not surprisingly, the Indian military leadership has repeatedly stated the strategic importance of the introduction of UAVs for the development of the national Air Force. As already mentioned, the main competitors in this market can only be Russia and the U.S., as Israel has, in this little niche of the proposals (although, as we shall see, something he has). What Russia can offer in this regard?
This should, above all, the joint participation in the joint refinement and mass production «BAS-62» (unmanned aircraft system). The basic analog - «Global Hawk». But Russia can produce not only more functional but cheaper in production. The project has two weaknesses. First - it incomplete. However, India has already expressed an interest in conducting collaborative research (project «BraMos») and rush it, it appears that there is no point. Another problem - direct competition with Israel in the area of tactical unmanned systems. Tel Aviv offers a variety of products made at a very high level today. The main supplier - the company IAI, an additional 90-s of the powerful intelligence apparatus India «Searcher». This UAV can be used for direct exploration of the battlefield, control of military actions, as well as an artillery gunner.
The main competitor of «Searcher» - our complex «Build-A» to «bespilotnika» «bee -1». Developed several years ago, SRI specialists "Pendant", «Build-A» little inferior analogue of Israel. This implements a set of possible contact points with commanding control fire lesion (field artillery etc.) and issue commands directly attack helicopters. Tests «Build-A», together with the MLRS showed significant improvement in the provisional results of the time and increase accuracy of detection / destruction purposes.
Today in the development of UAVs are often given the opportunity to install equipment, which vary depending on the objectives. Thus, the complex becomes functionally flexible, and affordable for the modernization of its «filling». For example, the approach is realized in the development NPKTS «Novik», working on his series of UAVs. The main innovation in this area - minimizing the mass of drones and a significant reduction in the cost of its production to the improvement of some parameters of the complex. Example - aircraft «Moshkara» weighing 20 kg. According to experts, the UAV can solve the same problem as «Build-A», and on technical possibilities, it is not inferior. On the other hand, you can simplify the operation of the complex - for example, the developers abandoned the use of drone missile accelerators. The main purpose of «Moshkary» - tactical reconnaissance.
NPKTS «Novik» has become an innovator in yet another direction of the production of drones. This is a micro - bespilotnikah, with the product «Novik» - Middle scout «BROTHER». The aircraft nearly doubled weighs less Israeli counterparts - not more than 3 kg, while maintaining the high range. Another advantage of this class - low cost in production and in operation. Another remarkable representative of the micro-UAV developed in Research Institute. VI KUZNETSOVA: the mikrorobote «kestrel», through a rotary plate. Although «kestrel» and loses some analogues of Israeli manufacturers and «BROTHER» - for example, the radius of action - it is absolutely besshumen record and weighs 0.3 kilograms! These dimensions do not allow the naked eye to see the unit for more than 50 meters. This makes «kestrel» almost indispensable in carrying out terrorist operations in urban areas where the use of larger UAVs at least problematic.
Summing up, we can see that now, domestic producers are ready drone almost completely satisfy the need of India in Unmanned Aviation. Russian manufacturer can offer a competitive technology, not to mention the prices.

"Small frontier prevents Israel to become full-fledged market leader in strategic UAVs"
The author, looking at the map??
A sea saw?
What do you think if the Israeli Air Force commit 1500 km of flight training (News polistay) so there is room for UAVs ????!!!!
